Tragically suffering a crippling accident after a training mishap.  World Champion / Australian BMX rider Sam Willoughby is determined and adamant to walk down the isle of his own wedding.

Although he is not guaranteed to walk again, he is refusing to accept being in a wheelchair on his wedding day in April 2017.

The South Australian, who won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics and recently competed at the Rio Olympics, underwent surgery in California after sustaining fractures to his C6 and C7 vertebrae which severely compressed his spinal cord.

“It’s a long way to go but when we get married I want to walk down the aisle.  “I’m not going to sit in this [wheelchair] for the rest of my life.”

Sam, we are behind you 100% on your road to recovery. Your are an inspiration all around the world #KNQR
